Multilevel or network marketing is a popular distribution method with many products. A network of friends, relatives, and coworkers, with various layers of commission payouts, market the product. Multilevel marketing is popular in recessionary periods, is not capital intensive, and gives people major incentives to build an independent business. However, this is a highly regulated industry. It has high attrition rates among salespeople, and it requires constant effort to keep salespeople motivated.
